On Thursday, 3 workers were killed and 14 were injured after a four-storey under-construction building collapsed. The building collapsed in a bylane off the Central Jail Road at Kasavanahalli in Bengaluru. Rescue operations were going on till late night. The building owner, engineer and site supervisor are absconding. According to residents, around 4 PM a loud sound was heard and when they came out of their houses they found the building collapsed. Eyewitnesses told that people inside the building were crying for help. Before the arrival of police and fire tenders, locals began digging up the debris to pull out the trapped persons. Fire tenders and Emergency Service personnel arrived at the spot at 4.30 PM and with their help five more people were rescued. The NDRF team and Civil Defence personnel also helped in the rescue operation. According to DCP Adbul Ahad, the building was unauthorised. The original structure of the building was seven years old and 3 more storeys were constructed three months ago.
