The Reserve Bank of India will shortly issue Rs. 50 denomination banknotes in the Mahatma Gandhi (New) Series. The base colour of the notes will be fluorescent blue, the central bank said on Friday. The new notes will be smaller in size (66 mm * 135 mm), when compared to the existing one (73 mm * 147 mm), and bear the signature of RBI governor Urjit Patel.
