Hockey India today announced the list of 20 campers each for the Junior Men’s and Junior Women’s National Camps to be conducted here from today onward as they prepare for the upcoming Youth Olympic Games Qualifiers which will be held in Bangkok, Thailand between 25 – 29 April 2018.These 20 campers will undergo close to seven weeks of laborious training under the guidance of their Coaches in Agra.

The National Camp is aimed at preparing these young players for the biggest tournament for them this year which is the Youth Olympic Games Qualifiers. The Campers will be working hard on their technique, fitness, speed, agility and skills in order to be ready for the five-day Qualifiers which will be a tough test as the best teams from across Asia will be taking part in the tournament in Bangkok.The vision behind organizing the National Camp for the Junior Teams is to develop the players for the Youth Olympic Games to be held in Buenos Aires, Argentina in October 2018 as it will be the first time that India could take part in a hockey event at the Youth Olympic Games. However, emphasis of Coaches of both the Indian Junior Men’s Hockey Team and the Indian Junior Women’s Hockey Team is on preparing the players in the best way possible to finish the top team in the Asian Qualifiers, which will make them eligible for participation in the Youth Olympic Games.The Junior Men’s Campers are formed by the players from Hockey Haryana, Uttar Pradesh Hockey, Hockey Odisha, Hockey Chandigarh, Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy, Manipur Hockey, Hockey Punjab, Steel Plant Sports Board, Sports Authority of India and Hockey Gangpur-Odisha. Whereas, the Junior Women’s Campers consist of players from Hockey Jharkhand, Hockey Haryana, Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy, Hockey Bhopal, Hockey Punjab, Hockey Gangpur-Odisha, National Hockey Academy, Uttar Pradesh Hockey, Hockey Mizoram and Hockey Maharashtra.“
