All parts of Delhi would be facing water shortage problem on Sunday and Monday as two water treatment plants were shut down due to the high level of ammonia in the raw water, the DJB said on Saturday. The residents of South and East Delhi will have to face a water shortage problem as the Bhagirathi and Sonia Vihar plants are shut. Since the Upper Ganga Canal has been closed for cleaning, the DJB was forced to take raw water from the Yamuna. The level of ammonia in the Yamuna water was too high to be treated, leading to the closure of the two plants, said DJB (Delhi Jal Board). The cleaning of the canal had started in the previous month.
